Question

If I am leasing a car and die before the end of the lease term, can I buy insurance to cover that?

For example, I have a 2-year lease on a 2019 car. If I die and my spouse is left with payments, can I buy insurance to have the lease paid off in full?

For this situation I'd actually recommend getting a life insurance policy if this is something you are concerned about. To my knowledge, there is no type of auto insurance coverage that would help with the death of a policyholder.

In general, dealing with car insurance when a policyholder dies can be tricky and varies depending on the company and type of policy you have, but it is likely that your spouse would inherit the policy from you. Hope this was helpful.
