Bill Mense

Partner, United Heartland Insurance

William Mense has amassed 45 years of insurance experience in a family-owned agency begun in 1914 by his grandfather. That agency is now in its 3rd generation after his graduation from Xavier University in 1977. He received a degree in finance along with minors in philosophy and theology. He is now a partner with United Heartland Insurance Agencies in Hamilton, Ohio.

Gradually his career expanded to include teaching licensing, as well as reviewing and authorship of examination questions submitted for use in agent licensing exams in fifteen states. He has received The Young Charger award and many other accolades within the industry and in the business community for his civic work on various boards.

Bill is a member of the Virtual University’s “Ask an Expert” program where he reviews and responds to agent-submitted questions. The Virtual University is part of the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers Association, an insurance industry organization that provides members with tools and support. He is now a member of The Zebra Review Board.

His interests outside of insurance include being an avid fan of Xavier University Basketball. In addition, he enjoys building and designing trains to ride on and play with throughout the year. He has been married for 42+ years and has two children and five grandchildren.

Bill believes that the best advice he ever received was on his first day of the job when an ole “sage” agent said that today was “The smartest day of the rest of your life.”
